11.73 lakh court cases pending for over 20 years in India, UP tops list
Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal reported that over 11.73 lakh court cases have been pending for more than 20 years across India, with Uttar Pradesh leading in backlog. The Allahabad High Court has the highest number of these long-pending cases, totaling 1.61 lakh, followed by the Madras and Bombay High Courts. This backlog highlights significant delays in the Indian judicial system, raising concerns about access to justice.
