7 workers killed after landslide blocks tunnel’s entrance in Sikkim
At least eight workers died and around 20 remain trapped after a landslide caused a tunnel collapse in Sikkim's Namchi district on Monday. The incident occurred in a 7-km under-construction tunnel of the Teesta Stage-VI Hydroelectric Project, where continuous rainfall and suspected toxic gas leaks are complicating rescue efforts. Emergency teams have rescued 12 individuals, while search operations continue with support from various disaster response forces and local volunteers.
