Aamir Khan on Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike: 'Phunsukh Wangdu in 3 Idiots wasn't based on him,' extends solidarity
Aamir Khan expressed concern for Sonam Wangchuk's health as his hunger strike reached its 20th day, while clarifying that the character Phunsukh Wangdu from '3 Idiots' was not based on Wangchuk. Khan dismissed misconceptions surrounding the character's inspiration, stating that neither director Rajkumar Hirani nor writer Abhijat Joshi were aware of Wangchuk during the film's production. Wangchuk himself has previously stated that while the film may have drawn inspiration from his work, it does not depict his life directly.
