Ahead of festivals, Centre cuts import duty on edible oils
The Union government reduced the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on crude edible oils ahead of festivals, cutting the duty on crude sunflower oil to nil and on crude soybean and palm oils to 5%. This aims to lower landed costs and ensure benefits are passed through the domestic supply chain. The changes are effective immediately.
