AI creates viruses that don’t exist in nature
Scientists at Stanford University and the Arc Institute created viruses that do not exist in nature using AI, marking a breakthrough in synthetic biology. They designed viral genomes with a model called Evo, synthesizing DNA that led to 16 viable viruses capable of replicating and killing E. coli. This proof of concept could significantly advance genetic research and applications.
