Almost all countries overuse antibiotics, contributing to drug resistance: Analysis
A study published in The Lancet Public Health found that nearly all countries overuse 'watch' antibiotics, which significantly contribute to antibiotic resistance. Researchers from the UK's University of London developed a framework to help countries assess their antibiotic use and address both overuse and misuse. The World Health Organization aims for at least 70% of global antibiotic use to come from the 'Access' group by 2030, but no specific country-level targets have been established.
