At 5.5%, retail inflation hits 9-month high on food prices
Retail inflation in India reached a nine-month high of 5.5% in September, up from 4.8% in August, driven by rising food prices. This marks the first instance of inflation exceeding 5% under the new Consumer Price Index series, remaining above the Reserve Bank of India's 4% target for four consecutive months. The RBI's next monetary policy meeting is anticipated soon.
