BJP begins stock-taking after Datia and Bankipur setbacks
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) initiated a stock-taking exercise following losses in the Bankipur and Datia bypolls, which were strongholds for the party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with senior leaders, including former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to discuss both development and political issues. The defeats in these constituencies, particularly Bankipur, which was vacated by BJP's national president Nitin Nabin, have prompted the party to reassess its strategies.
