Bombay HC dismisses plea against Mulshi grazing land for centre’s affordable housing scheme

The Bombay High Court upheld the Maharashtra government's decision to allocate gairan lands for an affordable housing project in Mulshi, dismissing a challenge from local villagers. The court ruled that the state acted within its rights under Section 40 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, which allows such diversions for public projects. This decision supports the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority's initiative under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana - 2.0 scheme to provide housing for economically weaker sections.
