Centre slashes sugar dealers’ stock limit to 2,000 quintals from 15 September

The Centre reduced the stock limit for sugar dealers to 2,000 quintals starting 15 September, down from 4,000 quintals. This decision aims to curb hoarding as retail sugar prices surged 37.5% year-on-year to ₹63.28 per kg. The limit will remain until 30 November, amid intensified monitoring of sugar stocks to ensure market stability.
