Coal India records highest-ever July dispatches as weak monsoon boosts thermal power demand

Coal India Ltd (CIL) achieved record coal dispatches in July, with an 18.38% year-on-year increase to 64.19 million tonnes, driven by rising thermal power demand amid a weak monsoon. The company's coal production also rose by 8.44% to 50.36 million tonnes, marking the highest-ever July supply in its history. This surge in coal output and dispatches reflects a growing reliance on coal-fired electricity due to a significant drop in hydropower generation.
