Common medications may change your gut for years
Researchers at the University of Tartu found that medications can alter gut microbiomes for years after use, based on a study of over 2,500 participants. Notably, antidepressants, beta-blockers, proton pump inhibitors, and benzodiazepines were linked to lasting microbial changes. This suggests that past medication history may significantly impact microbiome studies and health outcomes.
