Diabetes, hearing loss among key factors for dementia in India; women more prone to it: study
A study led by researchers from Rutgers University identified diabetes, hearing loss, physical inactivity, and undernourishment as key modifiable risk factors for dementia in India. The research, which reviewed 25 years of data, revealed that women are more prone to dementia, and prevalence is higher in rural areas due to underdiagnosis. Addressing these factors could potentially prevent or delay nearly half of dementia cases in the Indian population.
