E20 could damage rubber parts in fuel-systems of E10 vehicles: ARAI
The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) warned that E20 fuel could damage rubber parts in E10 vehicles, based on a 2021 study. While metals showed no significant issues, certain rubber and plastic components exhibited deterioration over time, particularly NBR-PVC and Epichlorohydrin. The study aligns with a NITI Aayog report indicating that E20 may reduce fuel efficiency by up to 6%, although no abnormal wear or deposits have been conclusively linked to E20 usage.
