E20 fuel contamination linked to rise in engine issue
High chloride and moisture contamination in E20 petrol has led to a rise in failures of fuel system and exhaust components, prompting the Centre to direct oil marketing companies to enhance fuel quality monitoring. Automakers reported significant increases in the replacement of critical parts like fuel injectors and pumps, with chloride levels in fuel samples reaching as high as 500mg/kg, far exceeding the recommended limit of 10ppm. The automotive industry is now advocating for stricter fuel quality standards to mitigate these issues.
