EPFO ceiling reset after 12 years; ₹25,000 threshold to cover 5.1 million more workers
The Union cabinet revised the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) wage ceiling to ₹25,000, effective from 17 September, expanding mandatory coverage to 5.1 million additional workers. This change allows employees earning between ₹15,000 and ₹25,000 to access provident fund savings, pensions, and insurance protection, enhancing social security for workers.
