Europe’s worst heatwave would have been impossible without climate change

The World Weather Attribution (WWA) confirmed that climate change is 'unequivocally to blame' for Europe's current heatwave, marking it as the most severe ever recorded. This heatwave follows similar extreme weather events in 2022 and 2023, which collectively resulted in over 100,000 heat-related deaths. While temperatures are expected to slightly decrease this weekend, the forecast suggests that Europe may face additional heatwaves in July due to the strengthening El Niño phenomenon.
