First cargo shipment under India-UK FTA flagged off from Amritsar airport
The first cargo shipment under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was flagged off from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, marking a significant step in trade relations. Deputy Director of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Aditya Singh Chauhan, stated that nearly 99% of Indian products will now have zero-duty access to the UK market, enhancing competitiveness for exporters. This initial shipment, consisting of ready-made garments, is expected to encourage more exporters from Punjab to engage in international trade.
