Former PM Manmohan Singh gets posthumous clean chit: Recalling the coal block ‘scam’ case
The Supreme Court granted a posthumous clean chit to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the coal block scam case, accepting the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) decision to close the case against him. Singh, who died on December 26, 2024, had faced summons from a trial court in 2015, which the Supreme Court stayed in April 2015. The court found no grounds for the trial court to reject the CBI's closure reports, which indicated no case against Singh regarding the allocation of the Talabira-2 coal block in 2005.
