FSSAI must notify front-of-pack nutrition labelling norms: Par Panel
A parliamentary panel urged the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to finalize 'Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling' regulations promptly to enhance consumer awareness of nutritional information. The Standing Committee on Consumer Affairs highlighted that over two years have passed since the draft regulations were issued, resulting in a lack of simplified nutritional information, particularly regarding sugar content. The committee emphasized the need for clear, accessible labeling to support informed dietary choices as packaged food consumption rises.
