‘Generic degrees’ like BA, B.Sc, B.Com have ‘weak job linkages’, need reforms: NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog reported that over 90% of graduates with generic degrees like BA, B. Sc, and B. Com work in jobs unrelated to their qualifications. The unemployment rate among graduates stands at 13%, with 20.4% for women, significantly higher than the national average of 3.2%. The agency advocates for reforms towards specialized, job-linked programs to address this disconnect.
