Google Drive ends Photos backups starting August 10: What users need to do
Starting August 10, 2026, the Google Drive desktop app will stop supporting backups for Google Photos. Users must transition to the Google Photos app for continued folder backups, while existing photos will remain secure. To enable new automatic backups, users need to adjust their settings, as this change impacts only computer folder backups, not phone backups.
