Government, banks to decide subsidy amount for UPI that will continue after MDR comes in
The government will collaborate with banks to determine the subsidy amount for the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) following the introduction of the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR). Officials noted that MDR collections won't fully cover UPI operational costs, and the Finance Ministry aims to prevent these costs from affecting consumers. A decision is expected soon.
