Govt notifies mobile phone manufacturing scheme; extra incentives for Indian brands
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology notified the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme on Friday, aimed at boosting domestic smartphone assembly. The scheme, which has a budget of ₹62,500 crore, builds on the previous Production-Linked Incentive Scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing. This initiative is expected to enhance local value addition in the smartphone sector.
