Govt rolls out GOBARdhan rules with CBG offtake
The government launched the Rs 23,731-crore GOBARdhan scheme for compressed biogas (CBG), ensuring producers a 100% offtake and a fixed price for 10 years. This initiative aims to enhance the commercial viability of waste-to-energy projects and stimulate private investment. The scheme, effective from 2026-27 to 2035-36, targets a ten-fold increase in domestic CBG production.
