The Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 18% on Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) for UPI transactions over ₹2,000 will be claimable as input tax credit by registered businesses. This policy, effective from October 15, may impact unregistered sellers receiving over ₹1 lakh monthly, with discussions expected at the GST Council meeting on October 7.
