Health Ministry introduces strict measures against fake or fabricated data
The Union Health Ministry amended the Drugs Rules, 1945, to impose stricter penalties on applicants submitting fake data, including temporary bans on future applications. Previously, violators faced only application rejections or license cancellations, but the new rules aim to enhance accountability and discourage misconduct in drug approvals. The amendments also require a show-cause notice before debarment and provide an appellate mechanism for affected entities to contest decisions.
