Hospitals' Body Rejects Insurers' Advisory on Admissions for Fever
Hospital associations, including the Association of Healthcare Providers (India), rejected the General Insurance Council's (GIC) advisory on fever admissions, insisting that patient admissions should be determined by doctors' clinical judgment. The GIC stated that the advisory is non-binding and based on government protocols, but hospitals fear it could lead to claim rejections. They proposed an Insurance Redressal Forum to handle disputes with insurers and oppose any claim denials linked to the advisory.
