How India prevented major fertiliser shortages despite West Asia war, and the concerns now
India has avoided significant fertiliser shortages during the kharif season despite the ongoing conflict in West Asia, with urea supply remaining stable. However, challenges persist for di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and complex fertilisers due to supply disruptions from liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports. The Fertiliser Association of India reported a drop in urea production from 24.7 lakh tonnes in March 2025 to 17.5 lakh tonnes in March 2026, highlighting the impact of the war on feedstock availability.
