ICAR develops indigenous vaccine for African swine fever

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has developed India's first indigenous vaccine for African swine fever (ASF), a disease that poses significant threats to pig populations. This vaccine, created by scientists at the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, aims to reduce pig mortality and economic losses for farmers, enhancing India's animal health security. The vaccine is recommended for pigs over eight weeks old and is expected to bolster the pig farming sector across the country.
