ICMR-NIN consortium calls for healthier school food environment, stricter regulations on marketing

The ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) consortium recommended stricter regulations on unhealthy food marketing and healthier school food environments to combat rising obesity and diet-related diseases. The policy document, launched by NITI Aayog Member (Health) M Srinivas, outlines actions such as front-of-pack nutrition labeling and taxation on high-fat, sugar, and salt foods. This initiative follows nearly three years of research and aims to improve dietary behaviors among children and adolescents in India.
