India eyes UAE ports to skirt Hormuz risks for energy cargoes
Indian refiners and importers are increasingly using the UAE's Fujairah and Khor Fakkan ports to source energy supplies, avoiding the risk-laden Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions in West Asia. Approximately 60% of India's crude oil and significant portions of its LNG and LPG imports previously relied on the Hormuz route, which has become perilous due to ongoing conflicts. The UAE's strategic oil pipeline is also being utilized as an alternative, although threats from Tehran to target these new routes persist.
