India may need $350-435 billion investment in AI, data centre infrastructure by 2030: Report

India may require investments of $350-435 billion by 2030 to develop artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre infrastructure, according to a report by OmniScience Insights Labs. The report predicts a need for 19-23 gigawatts (GW) of operational data centre capacity, significantly up from the current 1.6 GW, driven by AI adoption and cloud computing. This expansion will necessitate substantial capital and could demand around 160 terawatt-hours of electricity annually, highlighting the urgency of addressing power and infrastructure challenges.
