India-UK free trade pact new gold standard for trade deals, says British envoy
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron hailed the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as a 'new gold standard' for trade deals, emphasizing its pro-worker and pro-innovation aspects. Signed in July 2025, the FTA grants Indian exports duty-free access to nearly 99% of UK tariff lines, while India will provide preferential access for 90% of British exports over time. The agreement is projected to boost two-way trade by over £25 billion annually, supporting a broader Vision 2035 partnership between the two nations.
