India’s haemophilia diagnosis gap has an overlooked consequence: preventable vision loss
India faces a significant haemophilia diagnosis gap, with only 0.9 per 100,000 diagnosed cases reported, while the actual burden may be around 136,000. This lack of timely diagnosis, compounded by low awareness and limited access to diagnostic labs, not only leads to severe joint issues but also results in preventable vision loss, as 13% of bleeding incidents affect the eyes. Addressing this issue is crucial to prevent irreversible sight loss among undiagnosed patients.
