Inflation rates rise in August, eyes turn to RBI’s October meeting
Inflation rates rose in August, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reaching 4.82%, the highest in eight months. Food inflation increased to 5.95%, driven by a 19% surge in sugar prices due to low production. The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee will meet from October 5-7, where an interest rate hike may occur for the first time in three-and-a-half years.
