Lok Sabha sets 7-day clock for rebel Trinamool MPs facing disqualification
The Lok Sabha has given 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs seven days to respond to a disqualification petition filed by Abhishek Banerjee, the party's national general secretary. The MPs, who merged with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, face disqualification on defection grounds. A Supreme Court bench will also hear Banerjee's plea for swift action on this matter.
