Monsoon, not India: MEA cites Pak’s advisory to rebut its ‘baseless’ flood claim

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) rejected Pakistan's claims of deliberate flooding, attributing the increased flow of the Chenab river to intense monsoon rainfall in Jammu from July 20-23. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal cited a flood advisory from Pakistan's own forecasting division, which confirmed that high flood levels were due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment area. The MEA's comments come amid India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in response to Pakistan's support for cross-border terrorism.
