Monsoon to remain active over northwest, east and northeast India; IMD warns of heavy rain, flash floods
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rainfall across northern and northeastern states through July 25, enhancing kharif sowing while increasing flash flood risks. Areas including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rain predicted for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. The IMD issued a flood alert for Uttarakhand and Assam-Meghalaya, warning of possible inundation in low-lying areas due to saturated soil conditions.
