MoRTH proposes mandatory V2V communication systems from October 2028
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) proposed mandatory Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication systems for all newly manufactured vehicles starting October 1, 2028. This mandate will cover L-, M-, and N-category vehicles, including two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, and aims to enhance road safety through real-time hazard alerts. A public consultation period of 30 days is open for feedback on the draft notification, which also outlines a phased rollout beginning October 1, 2027, for manufacturers voluntarily adopting the technology.
