MoRTH revises BOT model concession agreement to attract private players
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) revised the model concession agreement for build-operate-transfer (BOT) national highway projects to boost private sector participation. Key changes include a buyback option, revenue support for concessionaires, and traffic-risk sharing to enhance project bankability and reduce risks. This revision follows recommendations from an inter-ministerial committee and allows sovereign wealth and infrastructure funds to bid for BOT projects under the public-private partnership model.
