New walls, gates and farmhouses come up again in protected Aravalis
Construction activity has resumed in the protected Aravalis, with over two dozen sites active in Ansal Aravali Retreat, despite ongoing proceedings at the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The area is designated as 'gair mumkin pahar' under the Punjab Land Preservation Act, which prohibits unauthorized construction and tree felling. The NGT is currently addressing a case regarding this issue, having previously reprimanded the Union Ministry of Environment for not attending hearings.
