Nicobar project to safeguard Indo-Pacific interests, Rajnath tells Congress
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh defended the Great Nicobar Island project as a strategic initiative to protect India's maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific, responding to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh's concerns. Singh emphasized that the ₹81,000 crore project would enhance India's capability to monitor critical sea lanes and sustain its presence in the region. Ramesh had previously criticized the project, labeling it a commercial venture that poses ecological risks.
