Northeast monsoon arrives early; heavy rain alert for South India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced the early arrival of the northeast monsoon over southern peninsular India, ahead of the usual October 20 date. Heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms are expected in Kerala, southern Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and coastal Andhra Pradesh through October 18. Residents should prepare for severe weather conditions this week.
