Nuclear fuel company Clean Core says its thorium fuel cracks, swells less than uranium fuel
Clean Core Thorium Energy reported that its thorium-based fuel, ANEEL, exhibited less cracking, swelling, and fuel restructuring compared to conventional uranium fuel during tests at Idaho National Laboratory. This fuel, designed for pressurized heavy-water reactors, combines thorium with high-assay low-enriched uranium. The findings could influence future nuclear fuel development and reactor designs.
