Once part of Pakistan’s ruling elite, now a sarpanch in Rajasthan
On October 24, Padam Singh Sodha, 77, was elected the first sarpanch of Chachro village in Rajasthan, securing 950 votes. The Sodha family, once part of Pakistan's ruling elite, fled their homeland in 1972 amid espionage allegations. This election marks a symbolic reclamation of their heritage and political legacy after more than five decades.
