Private healthcare body opposes Par Panel price cap proposal
NATHEALTH, representing India's private healthcare sector, opposed a parliamentary panel's recommendation to cap room rents in private hospitals at the average rates of nearby three-star hotels. The panel's report highlighted a significant disparity in hospitalization costs, with private hospitals charging an average of ₹50,508 compared to ₹6,631 in government facilities. NATHEALTH emphasized the need for a comprehensive costing exercise that considers various hospital categories and operational efficiencies before implementing any pricing framework.
