Chennai experienced heavy rainfall as the northeast monsoon became active, causing significant flooding on roads, particularly in North Chennai, where 6 cm to 10 cm fell in under an hour. In response, over 15,000 civic workers and 100 personnel from the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Response Force were deployed to manage the situation. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for continued heavy rainfall.
