Rajasthan’s Mangarh Dham, once promised national monument status, doesn’t make the cut
The Union Ministry of Culture confirmed that Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan will not receive national monument status due to its lack of archaeological integrity, following a site inspection. This decision has sparked outrage from local leaders, including Banswara MP Hanuman Beniwal, who called it an insult to the memory of the hundreds of Bhil tribals killed there in 1913. The ministry noted that previous proposals for the site's designation were received but are no longer under consideration due to significant modern developments at the site.
