Rajkot civic body announces two-month interest waiver on property, water tax dues
The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) announced a two-month interest waiver on outstanding property and water tax dues, effective from August 1 to September 30. This initiative aims to recover ₹749 crore owed by approximately 1.63 lakh taxpayers and is expected to encourage around 56,000 defaulters to settle their dues, boosting tax compliance from 75% to nearly 85%. Last year, a similar scheme resulted in ₹79.06 crore in tax collections, with an estimated interest waiver of ₹15 crore this year.
